Vice President, Video and New Ventures
Andrew Pergam is Vice President, Video and New Ventures. He leads McClatchy's award-winning video operation, the company's business development efforts and the management of its venture investment portfolio.
Andy joined the company in 2014 as Head of Video to develop a comprehensive video initiative across all 28 markets and 14 states nationwide, sitting squarely at the intersection of editorial, product and revenue needs. The team has expanded to include a real-time desk, regional video editors, producers and videojournalists. He oversees Creative Lab (McClatchy's in-house branded content studio), McClatchy Studios (which produces docuseries on streaming platforms) and the McClatchy New Ventures Lab.
In his capacity in corporate development, Andy serves on the board of the media accelerator Matter and the Local Media Consortium and works closely to advise a number of other media startups and entrepreneurs.Andy is also co-founder of Spark Camp, an event series that gathers leaders in media, technology and other industries for a series of important and intimate conversations throughout the year. Prior to joining McClatchy, he was a Senior Editor and the Director of Video at The Washington Post, leading long-term strategy and overseeing day-to-day operations.
In a previous life, Andy was in television news. He was an on-air reporter for many years and created online programming for a division of NBC Universal, before running the digital operations of an NBC-owned property.
Andy earned a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and graduated from Johns Hopkins University.
