McClatchy Video Series 'Titletown, TX' featured in Facebook's Watch
The critically-acclaimed show from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and the McClatchy Video Lab showcases the intensity and pressure associated with big-time high school football in Texas

FT. WORTH, Texas, Aug. 10, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- McClatchy (NYSE: MNI) today announced that Titletown, TX, the real-life, inside account of an elite Texas high school football team's journey for a sixth state championship in eight years, is being featured as part of Facebook's new Watch platform.

Watch is a place where people can find Shows, a new type of video on Facebook. Users can engage with a broader community and subscribe as new episodes are released each week. Facebook continues to roll out Watch to users and Titletown, TX can be found here: www.facebook.com/titletowntx

"As McClatchy continues its evolution as an essential digital media company for our audiences and our advertising customers, we look for opportunities to showcase such high-quality storytelling as Titletown, TX," said Craig Forman, President and CEO of McClatchy. "It's a win for us, for Facebook and for the local media industry."

The reality-based, McClatchy-produced video series features the highs and lows of the Aledo Bearcats 2016 season: Senior quarterback Dillon Davis, whose three older brothers each won a state title for the Bearcats, must handle the pressure of high expectations in a town of 3,000 people where winning has become a way of life.

"We're excited to meaningfully expand our partnership with Facebook in this way," said Andrew Pergam, Vice President for Video and New Ventures at McClatchy. "Being included at the launch of Watch allows media companies like McClatchy to continue to explore ways we engage with audiences on the platforms they prefer."

Video journalists Jared Christopher of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and Jessica Koscielniak of the McClatchy Video Lab partnered to chronicle the journey week after week in the small town. Rick Press and Jonathan Forsythe were executive producers.
